From the Page to Engage: What is StoryArc Events?
Like all great stories, great events captivate audiences and take them on unforgettable journeys!
For centuries, storytellers have been telling epic tales with more flair and structure than just a beginning, middle, and end — they craftily thread their narratives with intertwining moments of empathy, drama, humor, conflict, and fantastical journeys that keep you craving more.
These stories are filled with interesting characters, dramatic twists and turns, and endings celebrating the hero's journey or promising the villain’s revenge. Carefully constructed plot points are strung together to create engaging, suspenseful, overarching narratives — or story arcs — that keep the audience’s attention while the story unfolds.
It’s magic…
Every event tells a story — and we bring that story to life.
By definition:
“A story arc is the chronological construction of a plot in a novel or story. The purpose of a story arc is to move a character or a situation from one state to another, in other words, to effect change.”
The intention of most events is to effect change. Whether it’s introducing a new product or process, celebrating the achievements of a person, team, or company, or raising money and awareness for a great cause, the event is being held in order to communicate a message and effect change.
Approaching an event with the same design strategy as a great movie, novel, or play allows us the opportunity to create truly unique and poignant experiences that resonate with your audience while bringing your messaging to life.
Our Process
We start by digging deep to understand the Why behind your event. We identify all the major players, plot points, and ways you want to tell your story. We learn about all stakeholders, including your audience, to understand who they are and what they want to get out of participating in your event.
We then strategically thread your Why’s as plot points throughout the experiential narrative, or story arc. We carefully craft what information and experiences need to happen before the event (exposition), as guests arrive and are experiencing the event (rising action), during the pinnacle moment of the event (climax), as guests are sharing in their communal experience (falling action), and what they receive as they depart and following the event (resolution).
Throughout the attendee’s journey from exposition to resolution, they are being primed with information in doses that they can consume, anecdotal experiences that reinforce this information, and moments of surprise and delight which allow them to be present and engaged.
We use our venues as our theaters, that magical place that is transformed to meet the aesthetic and logistical needs of our events. We strategically design the use of furniture, lighting, and sound to immerse the audience into the story. We stimulate the senses by using interesting textures of linen and furniture encouraging touch, while the floral or custom designed scent diffusers activate the sense of smell. Even the catering becomes a part of the experience by what, when, and how we distribute the food. We create moments of drama and intrigue by designing the layout of the space to encourage exploration and engagement with statement décor and spectacular entertainment to surprise and delight.
The exciting and unique part of live events is that the audience isn’t passive, it’s active. They are there, in the room, actively participating in all of the elements we’ve created. Good events put on a show, great events understand the symbiotic relationship between the brand, the message, and its audience. In theater, we call it taking the story from the page to the stage — in events, we take your story from the page to engage.
